BROADBAND IN THE HUNTER
By Tony Allomes Last Revised: October 2004
Awareness of broadband internet access in the Hunter Region has gradually increased over the last
few years as it becomes more available and more understood. The relative cost compared to dial-up
access has also never been better. Despite this, the take-up rate in the region continues to lag behind
the metropolitan areas. It seems that the many benefits of broadband, to both the individual and
business user, are still to be fully understood and embraced. In this series of articles we attempt to
provide more information about the availability of broadband in the region and the advantages it can
provide to users in both the short and longer term.
