General Web Traffic
Owners of commercial websites are always looking at ways to attract visitors to view their
products/services. Web traffic, which is really just a generic term given to various methods
that can provide visitors to a site, is a popular option for many businesses. In this article
we look at how to buy web traffic, the main types of traffic available, and how effective it
might be for your business.
Buying Web Traffic
There are a large number of sites on the net that sell web traffic. The terminology may vary
from site to site with some offering guaranteed visitors or even guaranteed hits. Most of these
sites have arrangements with major traffic wholesalers who actually provide the subject traffic.
A traffic order involves buying a large batch of guaranteed visitors to see your site (normally
10,000 minimum) which can be provided through various methods. The main methods are detailed
below.
There are several different options available including targeting the traffic towards specific
countries, languages, or consumer categories. The cost can vary significantly from seller to
seller and can be affected by various factors such as the timing of a campaign and the type of
targeting required. As a guide, the cost of a 10,000-visitor campaign may be in the vicinity of
$30 to $40.
Pop-Ups (and similar)
Most of us are familiar with annoying windows that pop-up when we’re viewing various sites. There
are large networks of traffic providers that have relationships with a range of sites that allows
them to display an advertisers ad as a pop-up from the viewed site. PopUnders are similar but are
displayed under the original browser page. PopIns and Fly-ins are currently popular methods along
the same lines and are actually displayed directly over the main browser window.
Expired Domain Traffic
Some traffic providers are now offering an alternative traffic option that effectively redirects
visitors to a site from an expired domain. The traffic providers acquire a large network of domains
that were previously owned by other people and not renewed at some point. As these domains may have
been listed in search engines or marketed in other ways, they can still generate traffic. This
traffic is then redirected to advertisers sites.
